HOMEBOUND MINISTRY

Bringing the Holy Eucharist, prayer, and the caring presence of our parish to those who are unable to attend Mass.


Our Homebound Ministry serves parishioners who cannot attend Mass because of illness, recovery from surgery, limited mobility, or other health concerns. Through prayerful visits and Holy Communion, our ministers help them remain connected to Christ and the St. John the Baptist parish community.

Become a Homebound Minister

 We are always in need of compassionate Homebound Ministers to bring Holy Communion, prayer, and the caring presence of our parish to those who cannot attend Mass. We invite active Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to prayerfully consider serving in this important ministry.

Training and guidance are provided throughout the year as needed.

MINISTER INFORMATION

  • Minister Requirements

    To serve as a Homebound Minister, volunteers must:


    •  Be a registered member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
    •  Be an active and trained Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion
    • Be Virtus-trained and current with all required training
    • Complete all applicable Safe Environment requirements
    • Have a compassionate heart and a prayerful, respectful presence
    • Be dependable and committed to serving the sick and homebound

  • Training Information

    Training sessions are offered throughout the year as needed. Homebound Ministers receive guidance on the reverent distribution of Holy Communion, prayerful visitation, appropriate boundaries, safety procedures, and providing compassionate spiritual support.

  • Safe Environment Requirements

    All Homebound Ministers must follow the Safe Environment policies of the Diocese of San José. Volunteers must complete all required training, background screening, and diocesan forms before beginning ministry.


    Volunteers are responsible for keeping their Virtus training and other Safe Environment requirements current.
