FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
Dear Parishioners and Friends of St. John the Baptist,
Last weekend, we celebrated the solemnity of the Nativity of our patron, Saint John the Baptist, forerunner of the Lord, the martyr who spoke truth to power.
Our fiesta celebration was a big success. Parishioners and devotees of St. John the Baptist came and celebrated the Triduum (from June 21-23) . On the last day of the Triduum (June 23), we had dinner in the hall to bid farewell to Cory Mollat who is retiring as director of liturgy and faith formation and office manager effective July 1, 2023. Cory worked and served the Parish for almost ten years and we thank her for her ministry among us. We wish her well in her retirement.
On Saturday, June 24 at the 5 p.m. Mass, we celebrated the feast with a solemn Mass followed by a procession of the original statue of our patron from the church to the parish hall. We then had a sit-down reception with entertainment and everyone had an enjoyable evening.
As pastor, I wish to thank all those who took part in the fiesta, the parishioners and guests who came to worship and support the Parish. I thank the staff of the Parish, the members of the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Group Leaders and members of the different Parish organizations and ministries, volunteers, patrons, benefactors, sponsors, entertainers and helpers.
On Sunday, June 25, we had a mini-festival on the Main Street parking lot with food vendors and crafts and organizations who displayed their products and services. There was also a Ministry Fair in the Hall where different parish organizations explained their mission and ministry and tried to recruit parishioners who are interested in enhancing their service to God and the Church.
Over all, it was a beautiful event which we all enjoyed as we honored God and our patron saint.
God bless you all.
Msgr. Willie
