Dear Members and Friends of St. John the Baptist Parish:
Every January, all parishes in the Diocese of San Jose embark on the famous Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA). It is, as the Bishop McGrath says,: “the bread and butter” of the diocese. Here in our parish, it might not be the main source of our income, but it has been for the past six years one of our biggest fundraisings. The rebate from the ADA continues to fund the different projects of our parish like replacement of the roof of the church and the rectory, enhancement of the interior of the church, debt reduction, and many others. It is with great joy to tell you that we have reached, in pledges, our goal of $275,000. Congratulations and thank you to all of you!
I am very proud to be your pastor. To ensure the success of our ADA Campaign, I am asking all of us to please fulfill our pledges by December 31, 2017 so that we can collect 100% of our expected rebate. The rebate of this year’s ADA will help in the proposed re-pavement of our parking lot scheduled for July of 2018 which will cost us almost $200,000. The rebate will also help us in building our reserves and in funding the different ministries of our parish.
In addition to the ADA, I am also very happy to report that the 2017 St. John the Baptist Queen fundraising was once again a big success. On your behalf, I’d like to thank the committee, the candidates, their families, and the sponsors for their tireless support and generosity towards this effort.
As we celebrate our 140th anniversary as a Parish, we have a lot to be grateful for, so we remember the past, we celebrate the present, and believe in the future of this faith-filled community. I take this opportunity to invite you to attend the Black and White Benefit Ball on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Marriot Hotel in Fremont. The Ball’s objective is to celebrate and to give thanks for the gift of our Parish.
In closing, I would like to assure you of my prayers. May St. John the Baptist, our patron, continue to guide and direct us as we all work together in building God’s Kingdom. Again, Thank You and God bless all of you!
